As you probably know by now I will only write about new information immediately if it isn’t just some minor stuff. For all those small details I’ll post a quick roundup like this one every few weeks or months. Chris McDonough seems to write a lot more about the development in 2012 which is pretty cool.
There have been some image leaks (taken down) but fear not since those were over 2 years old anyway (I have them myself but won’t post because CCP doesn’t want them to be public):
They came from a former employee who accidentally posted them in a public place while job hunting. Most of the images were over two years old, do not represent the current state of the project and would not be the first impression we would like people to have of World of Darkness. They were simple prototypes and tests. We continue to try and not hype the product until we are ready to make more concrete announcements. Thanks for understanding.
Chris also posted an artwork from the first teaser video over here and writes about the status of internal demos of the game.
World of Darkness brings another stellar internal demo today.
#wodmmo #worldofdarkness Watching the team demo our newest internal release. Animation, climbing, jumping were the focus.
#wodmmo World of Darkness Sprint Team Demo’s showing in house. Looking at new animation as characters move through the world. Good stuff!
Watching #wodmmo team sprint presentations! What a great team of developers!
We all know this should be the first great mmorpg out there (Joystick has a list about some interesting upcoming titles as well) but it keeps getting better and better (Climbing! Finally another game other than Uncharted includes one of the best gameplay mechanics).
In an interview at Joystick David Reid, CCP’s new Head of Marketing, talks a little bit about the project as well:
The team has made great progress and Dave said he has gotten some hands-on time with the early builds. Hilmar said that WoD is a huge investment for CCP and more than anything they want to get it right. They also are very focused on appealing across gender lines to both male and female players as Vampire the Masquarade has such a high amount of both genders. Hilmar said at this point the game is becoming a tight and solid experience that they cannot wait to share. The team is focused on making World of Darkness part of the overall CCP plan and more than anything he hopes they “nail it” when it comes to the IP and its general feel.
In other news “EVE Online developer CCP has confirmed that Mike Tinney, the president of the company’s North American branch, has stepped down to found a new startup.” (Gamasutra News)
And here’s an interview (Tentonhammer) with CCP’s Newest Exec.
David Reid: There is no shortage of commitment here to making World of Darkness awesome. I dug deep into that before I came on board and remain absolutely convinced that this is going to be a huge, huge thing based on the resources we’re putting behind it.
Hilmar Pétursson: Specifically, we have a kickass team of sixty rockstars from across the game industry and CCP, and they’re making fantastic progress.
PS: Be sure to check out GDC on March 5-9. Should be pretty interesting especially with a note/tech demo by game visionary David Cage (Heavy Rain).
